Press Release

For Immediate Release

Entrepreneurs Chad Ballantyne of The Creative Space and Brandon Day of Community Builders have come together to create Canopy Coworking – a coworking community in the woods.

This is another Creative Space Collective initiative seeking to help non-metro towns and cities see the awesome potential around the coworking model. They desire to create workspaces with a focus on community, collaboration, and genuine care all wrapped into an inspiring and creative environment.

The original model for The Creative Space was a downtown reclaimed space, with a strong connection to arts and culture, but when Brandon approached Chad about the idea of a more rural, nature-esque space, he was on board.

“We recognize that in this crazy world of hyper-isolation, individualism, and a disconnect from nature, people are craving for real relationships with a real connection to our planet”, says, Chad Ballantyne, Founder of The Creative Space and Co-Founder of Canopy Coworking.

Canopy, as does it’s sister spaces, The Creative Space (Downtown Barrie) and The Foundry (Collingwood), are based on a core value that sees the member as a whole person and therefore strives to do what they can to support them, mind, body, and soul.

Most of the world is trying to do inspiring work in uninspiring spaces. Here, you will be surrounded by forest and a community of our leading social innovators… how inspiring is that?!” says Brandon Day, President of Community Builders and Co-founder of Canopy Coworking.

The space, designed to bring as much outdoors indoors is only one minute from Midhurst and less than 10 minutes from Downtown Barrie, yet surrounded by Simcoe County forest. It has the best of both worlds: community and tranquility.

Canopy is a place for Entrepreneurs and Social Purpose organizations that value relationships, collaboration, and sharing knowledge and want a safe place to start and grow their business.

The space offers three private offices, 15+ flexdesks stations, two meeting rooms, and two call booth pods. It has free parking and in the warmer months, a main floor patio under a second-story deck to cowork in the open air.  Applications are being accepted now.

Canopy is also part of the Social Enterprise Center occupied by Community Builders, Redwood Furniture Bank, Fleurish, and others. Join the growing community and be part of bringing purpose to your work!

Note regarding our staged photo:  Although we would encourage folks to grab their laptops and find a stump in the forest around us to work… we are a physical coworking space. 🙂
